The St. Pete Raiders U13 team put an exciting cap on the 2017 Best of the Bay soccer tournament by winning the final game of the event on penalty kicks vs. Clearwater Chargers 7-6. Raiders goalkeeper Jason Godinez-Cruz made the game winning save against his cousin who was playing for the Chargers.
The team played very well during group play defeating FC Tampa Rangers 6-0 in their first game on Saturday morning. They then played a very composed Cape Coral team to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon. On Sunday morning the Raiders solidified their spot in the finals by defeating Florida Spririt FC 2-0, thus winning their group with a combined score of 9 goals for with only 1 goal against.
The Clearwater Chargers advanced out of their group of 4 by winning all three of their games in group play by a combined score of 7 goals for and 2 goals against setting the stage for a tremendous Championship game.
The U13 team was the only Raiders team to play in the finals making the win that much more exciting!
