Grassroots TOPSoccer Program
TOPSoccer at St. Pete Raiders: Where Inclusion, Joy, and Community Come Together
At St. Pete Raiders, soccer has always been more than a game, it’s a vehicle for connection, confidence, and belonging. Our
TOPS
soccer
program, was proudly re-introduced in the 2025 season, embodies that mission by opening the sport to athletes with physical, intellectual, or developmental disabilities. It is one of the most meaningful initiatives we run as a club, and its impact reaches far beyond the field.
What is TOPSoccer?
TOPS soccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community‑based training and team placement program designed to give young athletes with disabilities the chance to experience the game in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. Sessions are tailored to each player’s needs, ensuring every participant can learn, grow, and enjoy the sport at their own pace.
A Program Built on Heart and Commitment
Our first batch of sessions last year has already shown how powerful this program can be. Led by our dedicated coach Bobby Zolper, TOPS Soccer has quickly become a highlight of our club calendar.
Behind the scenes, our volunteers and “Buddies” play an equally important role. These individuals assist players during activities, celebrate their successes, and help create the welcoming environment TOPS soccer is known for. Their energy and compassion are the backbone of the program.
Why TOPS soccer Matters
For many families, TOPS soccer provides an opportunity they’ve never had before, a place where their child can participate in a sport they love without barriers. The smiles, the breakthroughs, the friendships, and the confidence built each week remind us why inclusive programming is essential to our club’s identity.
TOPS soccer also strengthens our broader community. It teaches empathy, leadership, and service to our volunteers and players across all age groups. It reinforces the idea that soccer is truly for everyone.
Growing the Program Together
Like all great initiatives, TOPS soccer starts small, but its potential is enormous. As word spreads, we expect participation to grow, and we welcome more families, volunteers, and supporters to join us. Whether you want to help on the field, cheer from the sidelines, or simply learn more, your involvement makes a difference.
